A link to Science cafés turned up in one of the mailinglists I am on. It is an interesting concept:
Science cafés involve a lively conversation with a scientist about current science topics. They are open to everyone, and take place in casual settings like pubs and coffeehouses.
There are more sites like Cafe Scientifique (UK), Science Café (Sweden) and Videnskabscaféen (Denmark).
