BBC has an interesting section called Science & Nature with sub-sections for Animals, Prehistoric Life, Human Body & Mind, Space and HOT TOPICS - The science behind the news.
New York Times used to charge for access to parts of its content. I found that annoying and stopped going there, there are many other sources for news. Now they have changed their mind, Times to Stop Charging for Parts of Its Web Site which I think is great.

I often use Google as an English-English dictionary, there is an easy way to search dictionaries. Simply type

then click and you get a list of text from dictionaries.

Spelling differences between American and British English is a really useful page for those who need/want to get the spelling correct.
There is a useful Financial dictionary over at specialinvestor.com. Currently there are over 3000 financial terms.
Phrasen.com is a nice dictionary for translating phrases between German and English. Many phrases can not be translated word for word, you have to find the local one with the same or similar meaning.
